HC Deb 03 November 1969 vol 790 c27W
Mrs. Ewing

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what consultations he will have with Chinese community leaders in Hong Kong on the selection of the Colony's next Governor.

Mr. Luard

My right hon. Friend has no constitutional duty to consult any particular persons or communities before advising Her Majesty on the appointments of Governors of dependent territories; but representations by individuals or communities which he may receive are always given due consideration.
