HC Deb 13 May 1969 vol 783 c191W
51. Mr. Frank Allaun

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government if he will send a circular to local authorities drawing their attention to the outcome of the research which has been undertaken into the causes and prevention of damp in new houses and flats, and asking them to inform him of the steps they are taking to stop it arising.

Mr. MacColl

A working party set up by my right hon. Friend the Minister of Public Building and Works has been studying this subject and has held conferences in various parts of the country in order to make known its findings and recommendations. It has issued, free to householders, 2½ million copies of an advisory leaflet and prepared slides for display on television.

In addition, a technical handbook, in two parts, the first of which will be published next month, has been prepared, and I shall see that it is brought to the notice of local authorities at the time of publication.
