§ 48. Mrs. Renée Shortasked the Minister of Transport if he is aware that some local authorities in nominating representatives on the new passenger transport authorities have nominated councillors from one political party; and if he will introduce legislation to make it obligatory for local authorities to pay due regard to the political composition of then-council when making such nominations.
§ Mr. MarshNominations are, under the Act, a matter for the local authorities as with their appointment to other 207W statutory authorities and I have no power to intervene. The Act was passed as recently as November of last year and it is too early to consider amending it.
