HC Deb 04 March 1969 vol 779 cc83-4W
Mr. Marquand

asked the Minister of Power whether he is satisfied, in view of recent constructional difficulties at the new nuclear power stations, that the estimates of .52 and .48 pence per kilowatt hour in Command Paper No. 3438 are still appropriate for the purpose of comparing the cost of electricity from coal-fired and nuclear power stations; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Mason

The estimates of nuclear and conventional generating cost per unit in paragraph 2 of Appendix III of the Fuel Policy White Paper of November, 1967, have been revised to take account of developments since then, but recent studies of comparative generating costs confirm the basis of existing policies.
