HC Deb 04 March 1969 vol 779 cc69-70W
74. Mr. Ian Lloyd

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what estimate he has made of the net burden imposed on the balance of payments by British support for international commodity price agreements covering commodities im- ported into the United Kingdom in excess of £10 million per annum.

Mr. Harold Lever

A useful estimate cannot be made, mainly because it is impossible to assess what would happen to free market prices in the absence of the agreements in question.
