HC Deb 04 March 1969 vol 779 c70W
75. Mr. Ian Lloyd

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he will take steps to ensure that all imports of foodstuffs and raw materials may be purchased at minimum world market prices.

Mr. Harold Lever

Our basic objective is to keep down the United Kingdom import bill for foodstuffs and raw materials as much as possible, having regard both to the interests of our trading partners and to our own interests, over the longer term.
