Mr. Hooley

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what proposals are being considered at present for moving sections of the administration or research activities of his Department from the London area to other parts of England or Wales within the next five years, or for establishing new centres of administration or research outside the London area within the next five years.

Mr. Elystan Morgan

It is proposed to move the headquarters of the Home Office Supply and Transport Branch to Corby, Northamptonshire, next year. It is also proposed to expand the Prison Department regional office in Manchester and to set up three further regional offices in the Midlands, the West Country and the South-East.
