HC Deb 24 June 1969 vol 785 c234W
53. Mr. George Jeger

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government whether he is aware that the rates of interest on loans to local authorities as specified in circular 47/69 make it impossible for them to keep rents and rates stable while proceeding with necessary building and development; and what financial relief he proposes to grant them.

Mr. Skeffington

Local authorities already receive very substantial help towards meeting interest charges through the rate support grants, the Housing Subsidies Act 1967, and various specific grants.
