HC Deb 16 June 1969 vol 785 c44W
Mr. Peter Walker

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government what is his latest estimate of the time lag between the start and completion of private sector dwellings; and what was the figure in October 1964.

Mr. MacColl

The dwellings completed in the private sector in April this year are estimated to have been started on average 12.6 months earlier. Some of them are believed to have been started early in 1967 to avoid the betterment levy and not further worked on for a long time.

In October, 1964, the lag was 9.9 months.
