Mr. Brooks

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science whether he will publish in the OFFICIAL REPORT the number of educational maintenance grants provided in the current year by each of the local authorities on Merseyside.

At 31st December, 1968, the numbers of current grants awarded by Merseyside education authorities for courses at universities and further education establishments were as follows:

Expenditure in 1968–69 on maintenance grants and allowances, assistance for board, lodging, clothing and footwear, and other awards and grants, for pupils at school, is estimated at:
