HC Deb 12 June 1969 vol 784 c286W
Mr. J. E. B. Hill

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what is his estimate of the total cost of implementing the plans for comprehensive reorganisation submitted by local education authorities in response to Circular 10/65.

Mr. Short

It is not possible to make an estimate of this kind. The implementing of reorganisation plans is a gradual process. The capital cost which will be spread over many years will depend on the extent to which authorities find it possible to adapt existing buildings, and on the rate at which school building programmes are authorised to meet normal needs.
