HC Deb 12 June 1969 vol 784 c297W
Mr. Edward M. Taylor

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs how many British tourists travelled to Spain in the year 1968; what were the comparable figures in respect of each of the previous five years; and what estimate he has made of the numbers who will be holidaying in Spain in 1969.

Mr. Whitlock

The following table gives the number of British tourists who travelled to Spain in the years 1964 to 1968:—

1964 709,000
1965 803,000
1966 958,000
1967 1,060,000
1968 1,282,000

No figures are available for 1963.

No exact estimate has been made for 1969, but it is probable that the number of British tourists travelling to Spain will show an increase on last year.
