HC Deb 25 July 1969 vol 787 cc587-8W
Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the President of the Board of Trade (1) why he will not have an official survey made to ascertain to what extent people from the Netherlands pay regular visits to Great Britain to do their household shopping;

(2) why he will not have an official survey made of the number of French people who pay regular visits to Great Britain to purchase merchandise to take back to France.

Mr. William Rodgers

Because I do not think the value of the information that could be obtained from surveys such as these would justify the expense and trouble they would entail.
