HC Deb 25 July 1969 vol 787 c587W
Mr. Ridley

asked the President of the Board of Trade if he will announce his decision in relation to the Monopolies Commission Report on Estate Agents Charges.

Mr. Dell

My right hon. Friend announced on 25th February last his decision to accept in principle the commission's conclusions. The Board of Trade has been engaged in discussion with the estate agents to decide whether the main recommendations in the report can best be implemented by voluntary means or whether it will be preferable, or necessary, to make an Order under Section 3 of the Monopolies and Mergers Act 1965. We have not yet had the final views of the bodies representing the estate agents on this issue.—[Vol. 778, c. 288–9.]
