Within this total, direct expenditure in Wales434W comprising research grants to Welsh universities, on grant aid for the Welsh Plant Breeding Station, and on research units of the Medical and Natural Environment Research Councils as well as on nature conservation in Wales was £.1.4 million. This figure does not include expenditure on postgraduate awards.
