HC Deb 24 July 1969 vol 787 cc442-3W
Mr. Robert Howarth

asked the Minister of Transport if he will obtain a report of the accident on the M1 on 21st June when an articulated lorry crossed the central reservation and struck a car travelling south, causing the deaths of a mother and her young son from Horwich in Lancashire.

Final figures for 1968–69 will not be available until later this year.

Appendix 2 of "Roads in England" sets out the value of work done on roads.

The figures quoted are estimates of expenditure in the years concerned and relate to England only. They are consistent with those used in the calculation of public expenditure on roads and lighting in Cmnd. 3936, except that for 1968–69 more up to date figures are available.

The figures quoted do not include expenditure on car parks, lighting, administration and other miscellaneous items included in the figures in the White Paper. Figures for Scotland and Wales are the responsibility of their respective Secretaries of State.
