HC Deb 24 July 1969 vol 787 cc420-1W
47. Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he will take steps to ensure that any private person, organisation or public authority should, before organising public events in London during week-days which might cause delay to traffic, consult with him or the Metropolitan Police to examine to what extent such events can be postponed to a Saturday or Sunday.

Mr. Elystan Morgan

The Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis is informed of most such occasions and makes representations when he thinks they are justified; but it is not always desirable and possible for events to be held at weekends.
