§ 92. Mr. Haseldineasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will consider issuing free passports to persons under the age of 21 years in order to encourage travel between young people in the United Kingdom and the continent of Europe; and what is the estimated cost of such a facility to the Exchequer.
§ Mr. WhitlockIt would not be financially feasible to do so, and reasonable special facilities already exist.
The estimated cost to the Exchequer of such a facility would not be less than £600,000 a year, and could be in excess of £1,000,000, at least in the first year.
