§ Mr. HealeyThe on-call Allied Naval Force, once established, is expected to consist of about half-a-dozen ships of up to destroyer size; the Royal Navy will be contributing to it. Its purpose will be to demonstrate the solidarity of the N.A.T.O. Alliance, and to carry out surveillance in the Medditerranean. To this end, the aim is that it should be assembled periodically for exercises and for good will visits, and during periods of tension as required.
