The figures for the needs element of rate support grants are the amounts after deduction of the proportion to be transferred to the Greater London Council—One ninth for 1967–68 and 40 per cent. for 1968–69 and 1969–70; the deductions concerned, £456,975, £1,777,892 and £1,943,596 for the years 1967–68, 1968–69 and 1969–70 respectively, are reflected in lower precepts by the Greater London Council. No account is taken of the effects of the Rate Equalisation Schemes. For the years 1965–66 to 1967–68, these involved redistribution of the general grant and the needs element of rate support grant.
