§ 99. Mr. St. John-Stevasasked the Secretary of State for Defence, what further steps are now proposed, in conjunction with the new United States Administration, to strengthen the defence of Western Europe.
§ Mr. HealeyN.A.T.O. Defence Ministers agreed on 16th January to initiate a review directed towards the preparation of a force plan extending up to 1975 and the improvement of the quality and effectiveness of N.A.T.O.'s forces. We have not as yet had general discussions of N.A.T.O. defence problems with the new United States Administration, but so far as we are concerned we shall continue to play our full part in the defence of Europe.
