HC Deb 17 February 1969 vol 778 cc52-3W
Mr. Maxwell-Hyslop

asked the Postmaster-General whether he will arrange for postage stamps to have their backs coated with a more effective adhesive.

Mr. Joseph Slater

We maintain continuous checks on the gum used on our stamps and these have shown that the quality of the gum is sufficient for its purpose. There have been some problems over applying the gum to the stamps with complete consistency in the manufacturing process, but I am assured that these have now been overcome.
