HC Deb 12 February 1969 vol 777 cc307-8W
51. Mr. Wolrige-Gordon

asked the President of the Board of Trade what is the level of duty on raw material imported into the United Kingdom for conversion into herring meal; and what is the level of duty on the finished product.

Mrs. Gwyneth Dunwoody

Herrings imported for conversion into herring meal (and oil) and consigned direct to a herring meal factory registered by the Commissioners of Customs and Excise are not chargeable with import duty; herring meal is free of duty from all sources.
