HC Deb 12 February 1969 vol 777 c328W
108. Mr. Buchanan-Smith

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food how many applications he has received for membership of the brucellosis eradication scheme; how many herds are now accredited; what proportion this represents of the total number of herds and of the total number of cattle; and if he will make a statement on the progress so far.

Mr. Hoy

Up to the end of January, some 10,800 applications had been received in England and Wales for membership of the Brucellosis (Accredited Herds) Scheme, and 2,954 herds had been registered as accredited. These represent respectively 5.8 per cent. and 1.6 per cent. of the total number of herds in England and Wales, and 14.3 per cent. and 3.9 per cent. of the total eligible cattle.

I would refer the hon. Member to my right hon. Friend's reply of 19th December, 1968, to my hon. Friend, the Member for Falmouth and Camborne (Dr. John Dunwoody.)—[Vol. 775, c. 463.]
