asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government if he will state the total amount of money that the London Borough of Croydon received in grants and other forms of financial assistance for all services in 1963–64, 1965–66, 1966–67 and 1967–68; and what is expected to be given to Croydon for 1969.

The total amounts of the grants to the London Borough of Croydon for 1965–66, 1966–67 and 1967–68 were £5,459,291, £6,163,991 and salary of each person based upon the Bristol offices or the Land Commission at the present time, together with the total administrative costs of the Bristol office for the year 1968.

£7,554,599 respectively. The latest estimate of the rate support grant for 1968–69 is £7,760,221. Particulars of other grants for 1968–69 are not yet available.

Comparable figures for 1963–64 for the area now comprising the London Borough of Croydon are not available. A substantial part of the total grant was then payable to the Surrey County Council.
