§ Mr. Norwoodasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, in view of the latest developments involving the four major powers in their efforts to secure a settlement in the Middle East and the increasing dangers of further military conflict in the area, if Her Majesty's Government will now cease shipments of arms to any of the countries involved.
§ Mr. FoleyNo. Our present policy is to scrutinise each application by any country in the region for the supply of arms on its merits. I do not believe that any variation in this policy at the present time would contribute to the quest for peace in the Middle East.
