HC Deb 03 February 1969 vol 777 c43W
Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he is aware of the increasing number of robberies which have taken place at regular intervals in the Forest Gate and Newham areas, sometimes in the same road; and whether he will take action to ensure that the police give such robberies and their prevention their first priority.

Mr. Elystan Morgan

The Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis tells me that, while robberies in the area remain a matter for concern, they were about 10 per cent. fewer in 1968 than in 1967. The police continue to do all they can to prevent crime and to bring offenders to justice.
