HC Deb 03 February 1969 vol 777 cc21-2W
87. Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Common wealth Affairs why the Minister of State's visit to the Middle East included visits, to Egypt, Sudan and Morocco and not Israel; and whether he will arrange for the Minister of State to visit Israel on his return from the present schedule visit to the Middle East.

Mr. M. Stewart

Israel is one of a number of countries in the Middle East for which my right hon. Friend the Minister of State has particular responsibility but which he has not yet visited. They could not all have been included in his present tour. There are no plans yet for another tour, but I take note of my hon. Friend's view.
