§ Miss LestorIn January, 1969, there were 603 nursery schools in England and Wales—470 maintained, 15 direct grant and 118 independent. 39 new maintained nursery schools have been approved under the urban programme for starting by March, 1970, in addition to the large numbers of nursery classes authorised to be attached to existing infant schools.
386Wprovide similar courses for teachers, child care officers and for other social workers and courses in personnel management and in other matters having a bearing on community relations. The Department does not have information on the number of such courses.
