§ 8. Mr. Dodds-Parkerasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs whether he will give a favourable reply to the request of the United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund for additional funds for the Nigerian operation, in view of the phasing out of Red Cross relief activities.
§ Mr. FoleyThe United Kingdom Permanent Representative to the United Nations has just received a further appeal from the United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund for a contribution to their Nigerian programme. In considering possible further contributions by Her Majesty's Government towards the cost of relief in Nigeria, we shall certainly bear in mind the needs of U.N.I.C.E.F. as well as those of the many other organisations which are doing valuable work in this field.
§ Mr. Hooleyasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if Her Majesty's Government will now make a contribution to the United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund's Nigerian emergency aid programme, in view of the fact that 232W current funds for the programme will be exhausted by the end of December.
§ Mr. FoleyI would refer my honourable Friend to the answer I gave earlier today to the hon. Gentleman (Mr. Dodds-Parker) the Member for Cheltenham.
