HC Deb 12 December 1969 vol 793 cc188-9W
Mr. Edward Lyons

asked the Attorney-General whether he will take steps to bring the salaries of the Law Commissioners up to the same level as those of High Court judges, with a view to inducing the present Commissioners to remain longer at their posts and to improving recruitment.

The Attorney-General

My noble Friend the Lord Chancellor is well aware of the need to ensure that the salaries of the Law Commissioners mark the importance of the work they do, but it would not be appropriate that the salaries of the four commissioners other than the chairman should be the same as that of a High Court Judge.
