§ Mr. Edward ShortRecords are kept about teachers' service both by L.E.A.s and, for pension and qualifications purposes, by my Department. Records for students are maintained by L.E.A.s for administrative purposes in connection with enrolments, attendance, examinations and awards. In addition, records of individuals' educational progress covering the courses they attend and their examination achievements are also held by my Department so that the flows of students through the educational system can be measured.
