HC Deb 11 December 1969 vol 793 cc159-60W
Mr. Tudor Watkins

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science whether he will now make a statement on the progress made in respect of the objections made to the reorganisation scheme for secondary education proposed by the Breconshire Education Committee for the Brecon and Gwernyfed areas for comprehensive education.

Miss Bacon

As the hon. Member knows, the authority originally proposed to reorganise secondary education in this area in a single 10 form entry school in Brecon. They subsequently revised their plan, proposing a 7 form entry 11–18 school in Brecon and 3 form entry 11–16 school at Gwernyfed.

There were objections to this revised plan and further information is needed about it and the authority's interim reorganisation arrangements before my right hon. Friend can make a decision on the scheme for this area.
