The latest available information is given in the Schools Council Report "Ita—An Independent Evaluation". 2,013 schools in the areas of 140 Authorities were using Ita in 1966. The conclusions in the report are generally favourable to the use of the Ita for children starting to read but this is not regarded as being the only possible new approach to the teaching of reading.
