§ Mr. Speedasked the Secretary of State for Employment and Productivity if she will allow the Professional and Executive Register to provide details to people on the Register of vacancies in insurance, marketing and other companies requiring self-employed agents.
§ Mr. DellNo. It is part of our responsibility under the Employment and Train-98W ing Act, 1948, to help people to obtain employment and employers to obtain employees, but my Department is not required to help to bring together firms which are seeking to contract for work to be done and people who are prepared to do such work on a self-employed basis. Moreover our experience is that where people enter into such contracts there can be complex legal issues and other difficulties.
