HC Deb 09 December 1969 vol 793 cc85-6W
Sir G. Sinclair

asked the Minister of Technology if he will make a statement on the domestic dislocation being caused by the conversion to North Sea gas in the South Eastern Gas Board area.

Mr. Alan Williams

Conversion in this board's area started in June this year, and so far nearly 20,000 domestic consumers have been changed over to natural gas. I am informed that most conversions have been carried out without giving rise to complain but in some cases there have been mistakes and unforeseen difficulties. The board is making every effort to minimise the inconvenience to consumers, and I am asking the chairman to write to the hon. Member about the position in his constituency.
