§ Mr. Arthur Lewisasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department on what date the Committee on Death Certification was established; what is the composition of the committee; on what dates it has met; why it has not yet reported; and when he expects to receive and publish this committee's report.
§ Mr. Elystan MorganThe Committee on Death Certification and Coroners was appointed on 17th March, 1965.
The Committee has had 42 plenary meetings and sub-committees have met on 26 occasions.
The Committee is conducting the first comprehensive review of a large field of policy in which the issues are all interconnected. Progress has been slower than the Committee had hoped, but it is fully seized of the need to complete its Report as quickly as possible. Its present aim is to do this by the summer of next year.
