HC Deb 04 December 1969 vol 792 c347W
Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he will take steps to ensure that undertakers must be supplied with a medical or death certificate by a doctor before agreeing to carry out a burial of an allegedly deceased person.

Mr. Elystan Morgan

It is already unlawful for anyone to carry out the burial of a deceased person unless a registrar of deaths has issued a certificate for disposal or a coroner has issued an order for burial.
