§ 69. Mr. Biggs-Davisonasked the Secretary of State for Defence what are the arrangements for the future defence of the Falkland Islands and their dependencies.
§ Mr. HattersleyOur general arrangements for the defence of the Falkland Islands remain unchanged. At present our forces there consist of a troop of Royal Marines with associated hovercraft, supported as necessary by H.M.S. Endurance when in those waters. There is also a small local defence force. Together these are considered adequate to deal with any situation foreseen at the present time.
