Mr. Arthur Lewisasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will estimate for the United Kingdom, from information available to him from international sources concerning the annual turnover and sale of consumer goods on the retail markets and the average of the added value tax now paid in the Common Market countries, the effect on prices and the cost of living of the implementation of such a tax here.
