§ Mr. Malcolm MacMillanasked the Sectary of State for Scotland what stage has been reached in the negotiations between the local fishermen and his Department and other Departments concerned, aimed at mitigating the effect of the proposed extension of the Hebrides rocket range.
§ Mr. RossFollowing the earlier public meetings, a private meeting was held in September between representatives of the fishermen and the Ministry of Defence and my own Department; it agreed to form a standing Range Liaison Committee in order that the fishermen concerned might keep in close and continuing contact with both Departments. The next meeting of this Committee will be held before creel fishing is resumed within the range area next spring.
