HC Deb 02 December 1969 vol 792 c270W
Mr. Eadie

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what was the total cost involved in the running of the Scottish Certificate of Education Examination Board in each of the years 1965, 1966, 1967, 1968 and 1969.

Mr. Ross

The recurrent expenditure of the Board, which is met by education authorities, has been as follows:

£
1965 330,000*
1966 363,000
1967 396,000
1968 485,000
1969 (estimate) 532,000
* Although the Scottish Certificate of Education Examination Board formally took over responsibility for conducting the examinations from 1st January, 1965, some expenditure was necessarily incurred before that date and this figure covers the period 1st April, 1964, to 31st December, 1965. It includes £120,000 paid, as an initial grant, from the Exchequer.
