§ Dame Joan Vickersasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs in view of Recommendation 177 on security in the Mediteranean and the Middle East, adopted by the Assembly of Western European Union on 20th February, 1969, whether the Government will now seek to establish a Mediterranean planning group with instructions to examine the desirability 139W and feasibility of a European task force, which, in co-operation with the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation and operating in collaboration with the United States Sixth Fleet, would establish a European identity in the Mediterranean basin.
