HC Deb 21 April 1969 vol 782 cc34-5W
Mr. Dalyell

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will arrange to measure the effect of changes in stock where commercial salmon fishing operates.

Mr. Ross

At present there are no general means of measuring the stocks of salmon directly. The Hunter Committee recommended new methods of commercial fishing which would enable direct measurements to be made as part of an improved system of management. I am considering this recommendation along with the rest of the Committee's Report.
