§ Mr. Martenasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if, in the light of Great Britain's direct rule on Anguilla, British subjects previously declared persona no grata or prohibited immigrants in St. Kitts may now visit Anguilla.
§ Mr. WhitlockThe powers we have taken are to maintain public safety and public order and generally to secure the discharge of our responsibilities for defence and external affairs. Each case will be decided on its merits in the light of these considerations.
§ Mr. Martenasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will publish the agreement with the St. Kitts Government about the invasion of Anguilla.
§ Mr. WhitlockThere was no invasion of Anguilla. Troops were landed to act, if necessary, in aid of Her Majesty's Commissioner, who had been established with the agreement of the Government of the Associated State of St. Kitts-Nevis-Anguilla. The discussions with the State Government in this matter are confidential.
