Mr. Eadie

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland how many qualified language teachers are now teaching languages in schools administered by the Midlothian Education Authority.

Mr. Ross

On 16th December, 1968, 51 teachers qualified to teach modern languages and 16 teachers qualified to teach classical languages were employed whole-time by the education authority. Information about the numbers actually teaching languages can best be obtained from the authority.
