Friend has in mind appointments to public boards for which I have statutory responsibility, the answer is that 15 persons are paid on an annual salary basis; the maximum salary paid is £7,000 and the minimum £1,250; and there were no such appointments in 1958. In addition, some members are paid on a daily fee basis.
