§ Mr. Dalyellasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what action he has taken, as a result of the recommendation of the Sutherland Committee, that universities should consider the liberalisation and codification of their rules for higher degrees when the research work is carried on outside the university.
§ Mr. Gordon WalkerMy predecessor commended the Sutherland Report to the University Grants Committee. Its implementation is for individual universities. In general they have expressed their willingness and anxiety to cooperate.
