asked the Minister of Social Security how many persons over the age of 65 years in receipt of retirement pension do not receive supplementary benefit because of the possession of other and adequate financial resources; and whether all such will be entitled to free National Health Service prescriptions.

Mr. Loughlin

About 4 million retirement pensioners over the age of 65 are not receiving a supplementary pension. The question of free entitlement to National Health Service prescription is for my right hon. Friend the Minister of Health and I would refer my hon. Friend to my right hon. Friend's Written Answer of 29th February, 1968 to my hon.
