§ Mr. RossI am advised by the Boards that the costs per unit of electrity produced in Scotland in 1967–68 were for coal-fired stations l.03d., for oil-fired stations 0.77d. and for gas turbine stations 2.72d. These figures make no allowance for the subsidy, equivalent to .019d. per unit, paid towards the cost of substituting coal for oil; this falls to be deducted from the total cost per unit of l.00d. for coal, oil and gas turbine generation in Scotland in 1967–68.
